Support staff at Ontario’s publicly funded colleges walked off the job Thursday, striking over not just better wages and benefits, they said, but for the future of the college system.

Sudbury has two colleges – Camrbrian College and College Boreal, affected by the strike. In a release, Cambrian said picket lines have been set up at the entrances to its main Barrydowne campus, including across from Lillian Boulevard and Woodbine Avenue along Barrydowne Road, and Lamothe Street across from the entrance to Lasalle Elementary and Secondary schools.

“Please use extra caution when travelling in these areas, and be prepared for slower than usual traffic,” the release said.
