It's dry out there, and with no substantial rain in the forecast for at least the next week, the growing drought conditions in the Tri-State are only going to worsen, according to the National Weather Service.
Several local counties have issued "burn bans" to help prevent fires from getting out of control because of dry vegetation. Only 1.5 inches of rain have fallen in Evansville since July 20.
The U.S. Drought Monitor Map has much of the Tri-State in an area labeled "moderate drought."
