NORFOLK, Va. — Naval Station Norfolk commemorated the 24th anniversary of the September 11 terrorist attacks.
At Flag Plaza on base, service members gathered for a solemn ceremony to honor the nearly 3,000 lives lost on that day in 2001. The event included the reading of the timeline of attacks, a wreath-laying, and the playing of TAPS.
"Your presence shows that 24 years later, we remain steadfast in our promise that we will never forget," says Captain Ray Glenn, Naval Base Executive Officer, as he addressed the audience.
