BELL COUNTY, Ky. (WYMT) - A couple who were arrested in connection with a 17-month-old’s death appeared in court on Thursday.

Loren Gage and Dakota Spencer were indicted by a grand jury following the death of the child.

Police said the child was found unresponsive on July 30 and later pronounced dead at Middlesboro ARH.

As a result, Gage was charged with murder while Spencer was charged with manslaughter.

A pretrial conference was scheduled for Sept. 29.

A motion was also filed to have their bonds reduced during Thursday’s hearing, which will be revisited when the two return to court for the pretrial conference.
