LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) - Laredo residents are invited to two events this weekend featuring music, food, and cultural performances.

The annual Fiestas Patrias celebration will take place Saturday, Sept. 13, from 7:30 p.m. to midnight at the Pan American Courts Complex, 3301 San Bernardo Ave. The free event will include a grito competition, food trucks, and live entertainment.

Gabriela Mendoza Garcia said her troupe, the Gabriela Mendoza Garcia Ballet Folklorico, will be a highlight of the evening. “We’re going to dance dances from Oaxaca, Colima, and then all of our dancers—including the tiny ones to the adults—are going to dance with live music with the mariachi band,” she said, noting the performance begins at 8 p.m.
