FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) - Leaders from both Fresno County and the City of Fresno will be coming together on Thursday to collectively condemn political violence after what was described as the "slaying" of Charlie Kirk.

Conservative commentator Charlie Kirk was shot and killed during an event in the community of Orem in Utah on Wednesday.

Fresno Mayor Jerry Dyer, who already provided a statement on the shooting death of Charlie Kirk, will be joined at the event by Fresno City Councilmembers Mike Karbassi, Annalisa Perea and Nelson Esparza. Fresno County Supervisors Luis Chavez and Nathan Magsig will also be in attendance.

"Violence has no role in our democratic process,” said Councilmember Mike Karbassi. "We must show Fresno and the nation that we will stand united to reject rhetoric
