MANTEO, N.C. (WITN) - Drivers along the Outer Banks highway will see off-season speed limits again.

If weather permits, North Carolina Department of Transportation crews will be on Highway 12 Monday to switch speed limit signs from 35 to 45 mph, now that summer is over.

The updated signs will be seen in several areas in Currituck and Dare counties, as well as the Cape Hatteras National Seashore.

NCDOT tells people to continue driving cautiously in the fall, as many bicyclists, pedestrians, and motorists will still be in the area.

Seasonal speed limits will return next May 15th.
