SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) - Safety concerns are being addressed across the nation after a crowd gathered to debate political views at Utah Valley University with Charlie Kirk yesterday, prior to the deadly shooting.

Authorities said Wednesday’s shooting was the latest example of how security measures seemingly cannot measure up to the level of political violence that has occurred in recent years. In July 2024, President Trump was a victim when he was shot in the ear while campaigning in Pennsylvania.

According to the Associated Press, security experts at Kirk’s event questioned whether or not the event was sufficiently staffed. They also acknowledged the limitations of campus police forces and outdoor venues.
