Out of an abundance of caution, the Capitol Police are stepping up their presence both at the Capitol building and at other off-site events following the shooting of Charlie Kirk at a college campus in Utah. The goal is to ensure the safety of lawmakers, staff, and the public.

“We are increasing our visibility and resources to make sure everyone feels safe and secure while doing the important work of the state,” said Chief Luiz Casanova. “This is about being proactive and making sure business can continue without disruption.”

Capitol Police are also coordinating with municipal police departments across Connecticut to assess local security needs and provide the right level of coverage wherever it is needed.
