SHAKER HEIGHTS, Ohio — Canine Companions, a national nonprofit that provides professionally trained service dogs free of charge to people with disabilities and veterans with PTSD, is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year. Since 1975, the organization has matched more than 8,100 clients with dogs that help them live safer, more independent lives.
To continue that mission, the Northern Ohio Volunteer Chapter is hosting its Stride for Service Dogs event in Medina this weekend. The goal: raise $50,000 to help place even more dogs with people who need them.
