COLUMBUS, Ohio — Connect Housing Blocks, located in Linden, manufactures fully built apartment units that are later stacked and assembled into larger apartment buildings. According to company leaders, this modular construction model is not only faster but also more cost-effective.

The process starts with a steel framing machine, which shapes the skeleton of each apartment. From there, the unit moves down a production line where it's insulated, wired and outfitted with plumbing.

“Insulation, electrical, plumbing, another fixture install. It moves along to flooring, carpentry work, cabinets are installed,” said Bob Lamb, executive vice president of development at Connect Housing Blocks.

Each unit is nearly complete before it leaves the factory floor.
