AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - For many, that day is just as clear in their minds, 24 years later.
That’s the case for one local man who now works for the Richmond County Marshal’s Office, but 24 years ago, he was right there in New York.
Sights that will never fade from America’s memory.
“This country had never seen anything like that before,” said Corporal Joe Canavan, retired NYPD officer.
Many did not believe what they were seeing.
“They kept saying it might’ve been a single-engine plane, it might’ve been an accident. While I was watching the news, I saw the second one hit and I said, ‘This is definitely no accident,” he said.
