TEMPLE, Texas — Governor Greg Abbott congratulated the City of Temple Thursday for earning the Tourism Friendly Texas Certified Community designation from Travel Texas after completing a multi-step certification process.

The designation recognizes Temple’s commitment to using tourism as a strategy for economic growth, boosting local job creation, and attracting visitors from across the nation and around the world.

“Tourism is critical to both our local and state economies,” Abbott said. "Travelers to and within Texas generate almost $200 billion in annual economic impact and support 1.3 million jobs across the state.
