The Morningside University volleyball team was rolling early against Briar Cliff University Chargers.

Then Briar Cliff went on a run of its own and the Rosen Verdoorn Center on the Morningside campus became electric on Wednesday as the two Great Plains Athletic Conference cross-town rivals battled for the win in both teams' conference opener.

Huge swings in momentum throughout the match were intensified by both schools' lively student sections, though the home side prevailed in the end as the Mustangs took the match in four sets (25-19, 25-16, 22-25, 25-23).
