EUGENE, Ore. - Lane County is gearing up for its annual "Stand Down" event dedicated to supporting local veterans and their families. The event is scheduled for Friday at the Lane County Events Center.

The term "Stand Down" refers to a military practice where soldiers are withdrawn from combat zones to a secure area for medical and logistical support. On Sept. 12, attendees can expect to receive meals, haircuts, dental care, and clothing.

In addition to these services, the event will connect veterans with crucial resources such as housing, physical and mental health care, and senior and disability services. Employment opportunities will also be highlighted, with local employers, private companies, and government agencies present.
