EUGENE, Ore. – A vehicle stolen from a Bethel area neighborhood on Wednesday evening was recovered within an hour, according to the Eugene Police Department.

EPD officials said that officers responded just before 6:30 p.m. on Sept. 10 to a Royal Avenue parking lot to a reported vehicle theft. The victim told police her vehicle had been stolen from the parking lot while she was inside at work. After gathering information about the vehicle and suspect, police searched the automated license plate reader camera system and found the vehicle was last seen in the West 11th Avenue area. Officers spotted the unoccupied vehicle near the west Eugene Walmart store. Police contacted the suspect, identified as 29-year-old Jesse Christopher Canavan, as he entered the vehicle.
