ELBRIDGE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) -- A gas line was hit in the Village of Elbridge, causing afternoon delays and closures on Thursday, September 11.
In a Facebook post, the Village of Elbridge said a gas line was hit in the area of Route 5, near the Village Office, but no immediate danger was present.
They closed the Village Office out of caution.
As of 1:15 p.m., the gas line was opened and safe, according to the Elbridge Fire Department, though you may smell gas in the area. Officials said this is normal as the gas enters the air, and it poses no threat.
Route 5, between North and South Streets, as well as Hamilton Road, remain closed at this time. This is so NYSEG can work to bypass the break and stop venting. Once that work is complete, Route 5 will be open to alternating traffic until the
