SCOTT Co., Iowa (KWQC) - Drivers will need to be aware as harvest season gets underway.

Farmers and drivers will be sharing the roadway as farmers travel to and from the fields. Scott County Sheriff Tim Lane said this could lead to dangerous crashes if drivers aren’t aware of their surroundings and encounter slow moving farm equipment.

If you happen to encounter a piece of farm equipment while driving, Sheriff Lane advised that it’s important to be patient and alert.

“Drivers should be very aware of just how slow these vehicles are moving and how unpredictable they are,” Sheriff Lane said. “Sometimes they turn at unpredictable locations into fields, or pull slowly out of fields … and every once in awhile we have accidents related to this farm equipment that is on the road and it is usua
