SACO, Maine — Kevin Fitzpatrick is finally off the roof of Patriot Subaru in Saco after an eight-day fundraiser that surpassed its goal.
Fitzpatrick climbed onto the dealership roof last Wednesday to raise $85,000 for STRIVE , a nonprofit that supports young people with developmental disabilities. By about 2 p.m. Thursday, after 192 hours on the roof, he had raised more than $96,000.
“Every year we don't take it lightly, but we raise the goal a little bit because the cost to serve and maintain our programs, keep the lights on, never goes anywhere but up,” Fitzpatrick said. “The community, thank goodness, realized a long time ago that we need STRIVE to continue to do what they do, so when they hear I'm back on the roof again, the generosity comes again and enables us to meet and exceed
