The repercussions of Charlie Kirk’s assassination are “bigger than people realise” as the horror shooting sends “shock waves” through the political and media landscape in the US.

Speaking to Sky News on Friday, former White House chief of staff Mick Mulvaney said media personalities and politicians on both sides of the aisle are now “worried” of a revenge or copycat attack.

“It's sending shockwaves through the political landscape here through media through the commentators think tanks etc. This is, I think, even bigger than people realise,” he told Sky News host Laura Jayes.

Mr Mulvaney said there were thousands of people, particularly commentators, podcasters and authors, who thought if this could happen to Charlie Kirk, “this can happen to anybody”.
