LOUISA COUNTY, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- Each year, Louisa County Public Schools sets aside Sept. 11 to honor first responders — both remembering the lives lost in the 2001 attacks and recognizing those still serving the community.

On Wednesday, elementary students lined up at a Lake Anna grocery store with handmade thank-you notes for local firefighters and emergency crews. The tradition, school leaders say, is designed not just as a remembrance but also as a celebration of service.
