INDIANAPOLIS — A security guard has been arrested after a shooting that injured two women in downtown Indianapolis last week, IMPD announced Friday.

The 35-year-old man faces preliminary charges of aggravated battery, dealing in a narcotic and unlawful possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon, police said. Formal charges had not yet been filed as of early Sept. 12.

The shooting was reported around 3 a.m. Friday, Sept 4 in the 200 block of South Meridian Street , just south of West Georgia Street. Officers responding for a reported shooting located two women with gunshot wounds.

The women were both "stable" when taken to a local hospital.
