Right-wing influencer Charlie Kirk’s shooter has been identified as 22-year-old Tyler Robinson of Utah, who is now in custody after eluding the FBI for two days. Robinson reportedly confessed to the murder of Kirk to his father, a law enforcement veteran, who then detained him and handed him over to police. Robinson had been a student of Utah State University, but Utah State issued a statement saying he attended only for one semester in 2021.

The motive for the shooting is not yet clear. Records indicate that several members of Robinson’s family are registered Republicans. Robinson’s political affiliation has not yet been identified.
