LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - University of Nebraska-Lincoln Chancellor Rodney Bennett announced Friday he has submitted a proposal to reduce the university’s budget by $27.5 million for Fiscal Year 2026.
The budget reduction proposal, submitted to the Academic Planning Committee (APC), includes $21 million to close a structural gap and an additional $6.5 million in reductions.
“The plan was created by the Executive Leadership team after broad consultation and feedback, including quantitative assessments informed by research and teaching metrics, as well as qualitative considerations like program distinctiveness, the needs of our state and post graduation opportunities,” Bennett said.
The plan, outlined in a memo to the APC, includes proposed academic program eliminations and realignments.
“I
