Like most nine-year-old kids, Welland’s Colt Hill spent a lot of time watching YouTube.

But it wasn’t Minecraft videos or toy unboxings he was watching — he was learning how to make little concrete matchstick holders, which he would sell out of his driveway. They proved to be such a hit, he had his own business — Colt Creations — before he was even a teenager.

Now 13, Colt is whipping up all kinds of things in his family’s basement. Garden gnomes, ornaments, planters, vases and more, available on his Colt Creations website and in local stores.

“I basically cover every field,” he says. “I really can’t narrow it down to one subject. I suppose ‘home decor.’”
