LINCOLN, Neb. —
The University of Nebraska-Lincoln has announced a proposed $30 million in budget cuts, a plan that includes eliminating six academic programs and more than 50 faculty positions.
Chancellor Rodney Bennett said the cuts include $21 million to address “structural gaps” and an additional $6.5 million aimed at preventing future budget deficits.
Over the past few months, university leaders have discussed potential areas for reduction. Now, the formal proposal has been released — and the impact is already being felt across campus.
