Instead of dwelling on the missed opportunity last week against No. 2 South Dakota State — Montana State failed to score after getting the ball with 1 minute, 12 seconds left in regulation — MSU head coach Brent Vigen said Monday “experience is your best teacher.”

The No. 4-ranked Bobcats were given an opportunity at redemption when San Diego punted with 1:13 left in the first half Saturday. Quarterback Justin Lamson — who chose to scramble instead of passing to a wide open Dane Steel late in the SDSU game — took over at the MSU 15-yard line.
