BATON ROUGE, La. − Florida football coach Billy Napier stood by quarterback DJ Lagway throughout his struggles against LSU on Sept. 13.
Lagway said he didn't think about replacing Lagway with freshman quarterback Tramell Jones Jr., even after Lagway threw the fourth of his five interceptions during UF's 20-10 loss to the Tigers.
"I don't subscribe to that theory," Napier said. "DJ's our quarterback. He's one of the best quarterbacks in the country. He made some tough, you know, made good decisions tonight, but he also made some bad decisions tonight, so, yeah. And, you're talking about a guy (Jones) who, you know, he's a rookie himself."
Jones, from Madarin High in Jacksonville, beat out redshirt sophomore Aidan Warner and redshirt senior Harrison Bailey with a strong fall camp to wi
