IOWA CITY — Kirk Ferentz could not believe the new distinction next to his name after Iowa’s 47-7 win over UMass on Saturday.
After 331 games as the head coach of the Iowa football program, Ferentz became the winningest head coach in Big Ten conference history, passing Ohio State’s Woody Hayes, with 206 wins as the head of the Hawkeyes.
Following the game, Iowa athletic director Beth Goetz congratulated Ferentz on the accomplishment.
