Tommy Robinson supporters hurled bottles and flares at police manning his 'Unite the Kingdom' rally.
The Metropolitan Police said 26 of its officers were hurt as they attempted to curb the 'violence'.
Some were left with broken teeth, a possible broken nose, concussion, a prolapsed disc and a head injury.
Officers had to 'put on full protective equipment' and use shields as those 'part of the 'Unite the Kingdom' protest became involved in disorder in multiple locations'.
Horses and dogs had to be used to keep Robinson supporters 'away from opposing groups' as a counter-protest led by Stand Up to Racism took place at the same time.
