ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - A north Georgia police officer who was shot in the line of duty is recovering in the hospital.
The shooting incident happened in McCaysville, a Fannin County city near the Tennessee border. Capt. Brantley Worley was shot in the throat and airlifted to a hospital in Chattanooga.
Worley is in stable condition, according to McCaysville Police Chief Michael Earley. When he was taken to the hospital, Worley was in critical condition. Worley has a broken neck, a brain bleed and fluid in his lungs, according to officials.
"The brain bleed has not changed, and we are waiting on word regarding the results of his latest CT scan. Doctors are also considering surgery on his nose, as the break has made it difficult for him to breathe," Earley said in a social medi
