Meghalaya bid a solemn farewell to its five-time former chief minister Dr. DD Lapang, who was laid to rest with full state honors on Monday.

A host of political leaders across party lines paid rich tribute to the veteran and longest serving politician of the state, who passed away at a private hospitall in Shillong on September 12.

A state funeral was held at the Student’s Field, Jaiaw attended by chief minister Conrad K Sangma, cabinet ministers, political leaders and officials of hte Meghalaya government in presence of family members.

Floral wreaths were laid by the dignitaries of the state at the casket bearing late Dr. DD Lapang’s mortal remains drapped with the tricolor.
