A coastal low-pressure system is tightening its grip across the region today delivering a decent chance of rain, wind, and coastal flooding. The storm will move inland late tonight or early Tuesday before gradually weakening midweek.

Bands of moderate to heavy rain will continue to develop across ENC, with widespread totals of 1–3″. Some communities along Highway 17, north and the Outer Banks, could pick up 3–5″+ in a short window, leading to localized flooding.

Wind Impacts: Outer Banks communities are bearing the brunt of strong winds today, with sustained 25–35 mph and gusts up to 45 mph possible. That’s enough to drive water onto vulnerable roads, including Highway 12 and soundside locations.
