After years of working in the kitchens of some of the area's best restaurants, chefs and partners Gabriel and Gabriela Botezan are creating a new destination to reflect their own Romanian heritage.
Bar Gabi could open for dinner and Sunday brunch as soon as next month in Hazel Park in the space formerly occupied by Framebar, a rotating-chef concept restaurant that closed in June 2024. The Botezan's bar and restaurant will have a set menu with a few seasonal changes.
"Our concept will be more modern Romanian, European food, but mostly Romanian. Things that we grew up eating, but with a modern twist," said Gabriel. "We'll have an octopus, pork belly, a pasta that we'll do a rotation every month ... classic Romanian schnitzel. Maybe a steak or two, Romanian cevapi."
