CHARLESTON COUNTY, S.C. (WCSC) - The Charleston County Sheriff’s Office says a man is facing charges after leading them on a chase on Interstate 26 and refusing to get out of the vehicle.

Elmer Bernabe Perez Velasquez, 21, is charged with DUI and failure to stop for blue lights, according to jail records.

Jail records state a judge set a total bail of $20,819.50 on the two charges, but that there is an Immigration and Customs Enforcement hold on him as well.

Deputies spotted Perez Velasquez on I-26 showing signs of driving under the influence by failing to maintain lanes and changing lanes illegally as they followed him for four miles, an incident report states. They say he failed to stop for blue lights, maintaining a speed of 40 mph in a 60-mph zone.
