In August, USA Today listed seven power-conference head coaches on the hot seat going into the 2025 season. One of those coaches, Virginia Tech’s Brent Pry, already has been fired, Sunday, after a 45-26 loss to in-state mid-major Old Dominion. UCLA’s DeShaun Foster wasn’t even on the list, but he also was fired Sunday, after the Bruins also dropped to 0-3, with a 35-10 loss to New Mexico.
And three of the head coaches on that USA Today hot seat list will be coaching in Oklahoma this weekend: OSU’s Mike Gundy, OU’s Brent Venables and Auburn’s Hugh Freeze.
The seat has cooled for both coaches in the OU-Auburn game. Venables’ Sooners beat Michigan, Freeze’s Tigers beat Baylor and now both are ranked in the top 25. The loser Saturday will fall from
