Jaren Kanak is Mr. Reliable

“They call me Gate 12 ‘cause I’m always open.”

That was a joke Jaren Kanak posted to his X (formerly Twitter) account last week, talking about how Gate 12 at Oklahoma Memorial Stadium is rarely ever locked. Kanak’s doubly right, though — he does always seem to always be open, especially on third downs.

The linebacker turned tight end continued to be a revelation for the Sooners’ offense against Temple last Saturday, recording four catches for 86 yards.

One of his biggest plays of the day came on OU’s first offensive drive, as on a third-and-19 play he slipped underneath the defense and racked up a 20-yard catch and run to extend the drive.
