MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - Always supervise your baked beans!
The Madison Fire Department reported responding to an apartment complex on Madison’s south side after reports of alarms sounding and smoke coming from underneath an apartment door.
The call came in around noon Sunday from the 600 block of West Badger Road.
First responders entered the apartment and found floor-to-ceiling smoke, MFD said. They also found a pot of burnt baked beans on the stove.
After securing and removing the pot of beans from the stove, firefighters determined that no one was inside the apartment.
Firefighters opened windows and set up a fan to push smoke out of the apartment. When the smoke cleared, firefighters secured the apartment unit and left.
