A fake image which claimed to show a supermarket in flames has been blasted for ‘causing concern and confusion’.

The AI generated image, purporting to show a blaze at Farnworth’s Iceland store, was widely shared on social media platforms on Sunday with many people believing the image was real.

Several commenters shared the image, with many expressing concern about an apparent major incident.

The fake image seemingly showed flames bursting through the roof of the supermarket with fire-fighters tackling the fire with a hose reel.
