How roughly three dozen ballots allegedly disqualified due to a clerical error could have shifted the landscape of Prichard’s runoff elections next week will remain unknown.
When the city’s election day ended on Tuesday, Aug. 26, three races — including the elections for mayor and two council seats — ended within the margin of 36 outstanding provisional ballots. However, only four of those ballots were deemed eligible. The other 32 were disqualified due to allegedly being submitted late by the city’s clerk.
