HENDERSON, Ky. (WFIE) - The next big housing option in Henderson could be the smallest.
Kentucky legislators created the Kentucky Housing Task Force to look at more affordable housing options, and say they saw tiny homes as a viable option.
Henderson Mayor Brad Staton says he was contacted by people that wanted to build these homes, but no legislation was in place, so an ordinance was filed to make them possible.
“You can actually do a lot with a little space, and some people are just kind of minimalists so to speak,” Staton stated. “They don’t want to waste a lot of space or waste a lot of effort or spend money on things that they don’t believe that they need.”
The proposal for a new city ordinance defines a tiny home as a single-family living unit and size of 120 to 800 square feet.
