NEWBURGH, Ind. (WFIE) - You can still see ash on the grounds of the Warrick Humane Society. The executive director says, that’s a problem for the animals they care for.
“You know, we wear shoes outside. We don’t lick the ground,” Lindsey Hagedorn said. “Animals you have to worry about their paws that are not covered, them licking their paws, them licking the ground, them digging in the ground. And so that is kind of where our hesitation is on bringing them back.”
As we previously reported , the humane society had to evacuate its staff and animals during the chemical fire at PBTT on September 6.
Hagedorn says she feels it’s safe for people to be on the property, but she wants to err on the side of caution for everyone’s four-legged friends.
