Olympic snowboarder Shaun White and actress Nina Dobrev have ended their engagement after nearly five years together.

The split was described as a mutual decision, according to PEOPLE .

“It wasn’t an easy one, but it was made with love and a deep respect for one another,” a source told the outlet.

Speculation about the couple’s status had circulated in recent months as they stopped appearing together on social media. Dobrev attended the Toronto International Film Festival alone on Sept. 7, while White last shared a photo of the pair at a wedding in June.

Dobrev’s final post featuring White was in July.
