More than 60 per cent of drivers don't know the rules around when their car will need an MOT, according to a report by FixMyCar . Less than 40 per cent of driver know that a car requires its first MOT test after three years and then annually thereafter.

Half of drivers don't fully understand what’s being checked during an MOT, with almost a third preferring to "leave it to the garage".
