LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Members of the community got to meet the two finalist teams Monday evening applying to serve as the city of Louisville’s Independent Monitor.

The Independent Monitor will work as a neutral evaluator of the city and the Louisville Metro Police Department's commitment to police reform, as part of Mayor Craig Greenberg's (D) Comprehensive Crime Reduction Plan .

The search for Louisville’s Independent Monitor team is nearing its end. Greenberg announced the two finalist groups last week, both of which, he said, are qualified.

In May, the U.S. Department of Justice closed its lawsuit against the city, effectively ending the federal consent decree to address findings of unconstitutional policing practices. As a result, Greenberg moved forward with the "Community Comm
