SCOTTSBURG, Ind. (WAVE) - Police in Southern Indiana have issued a Silver Alert for 72-year-old Roger Caldwell.

Caldwell was reported missing Monday and has a long history of mental illness. He was also convicted in 1996 of killing Andy Campbell.

Campbell was a ranger at a Boy Scout Camps in Charlestown, Ind.

Caldwell was convicted but the guilty verdict was overturned when it was discovered the jury was not properly instructed.

During the second trial, Caldwell was found guilty but mentally ill. He was diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia. He was recently released on parole and is now missing.

Caldwell is 6-feet-2-inches tall, 221 pounds. He has gray hair with blue eyes, last seen wearing a gray shirt and blue pants.
