LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Authorities have issued a Silver Alert for a man once convicted of murder missing from southern Indiana.

According to the Scottsburg Police Department, 72-year-old Roger Caldwell has been missing from Scottsburg since 8:30 a.m. Friday.

They believe Caldwell could be in danger and require medical assistance.

He is described as a white male, about 6-feet-2-inches tall, 221-pounds, with gray hair with blue eyes. Caldwell was last seen wearing a gray shirt and blue pants.

He was released from prison earlier this year after spending a decades-long sentence for a murder conviction, from 1996, at which time he was also found mentally ill.

A jury found Caldwell guilty of shooting a groundskeeper at a Boy Scout camp in Charlestown.
