MEDINA, Ohio — The two former deputized federal agents who are employed by Northeast Ohio law enforcement agencies appeared a Medina County courtroom Tuesday for their arraignment on charges related to illegally detaining a truck driver at a bar , believing — without any apparent evidence — that he was in the U.S. illegally.

Donald Kopchak and Daniel Lajack each pleaded not guilty to the charges of two counts of felony abduction, one felony count of ethnic intimidation, and one misdemeanor assault count.

Medina County Common Pleas Court Magistrate Matthew Razavi opted to give the men a personal bond, releasing them on their own recognizance. Both men were ordered not to have any contact with the victim in the case. They were also ordered to have no access to weapons.
