VIRGINIA, USA — Virginia Tech Athletics broke its silence Tuesday following the dismissal of head football coach Brent Pry after the Hokies’ 45-26 loss to Old Dominion.

Athletic Director Whit Babcock, who is now 0-2 on football coaching hires, praised Pry as a person but said football is a results-based business, noting the team didn’t win enough.

Montgomery described an emotional whirlwind for the players over the past few days and said they now have the opportunity to choose the ending to this story.

“I am confident you will soon see a modernized structure built for success in this rapidly changing environment of college athletics. I and we will improve, evolve and adapt to this new landscape successfully,” Babcock said.
