ELMIRA, N.Y. (WENY) -- As a way to prepare for natural disasters and protect resources, Chemung County is actively seeking public input on a resilience plan. On Tuesday night, officials held a community engagement meeting to gather feedback.

County officials say the resiliency plan is designed to enhance elements already included in the county's comprehensive and mitigation plans. Tuesday's meeting could be a big factor in pushing it to the finish line.

The county is utilizing a grant for its creation. Two consulting companies have been brought on to present data and statistics about the region to the public and guide them along to help construct a plan.
